    • Found major oil leak from front of motor. Valve cover gasket is punched out at multiple points, pinched between head and valve cover. Will need to remove covers and replace as needed
    • Once front cover was removed, found head material is broken off in large chunk/missing. This is in the primary sealing area of the valve cover gasket. Unable to perform repair. Advised customer that head replacement would be needed. Customer had stated that the engine was replaced with a used unit sometime ago. Customer declined any further repairs. Customer acknowledges that engine components will not be reassembled. Vehicle will need to be towed out.

    • Codes stored P1217 – engine overtemp. History freeze frame data shows coolant temp about 260 deg. Road test found temp spiked within 1/4 mile of driving. Inspection and testing found large air pocket present in cooling system. Outside shop had just worked on system and suspect issues started after. First, properly filled cooling system through heater hose to evacuate air pocket, filled with only water for testing purposes. Hydro carbon test came back negative, though engine overtemp may have compromised head gaskets, which may not reveal itself until later down the road. After properly filling system, road test revealed no excessive engine temps. 15 mile test drive. Reported to customer of findings, customer approved additional system vacuum fill with proper coolant/water mixture. Customer is aware that possible engine damage may still be evident in near future and the next several days of driving will be on a trial base. Additional repairs may be needed.
